From Where I Sit is a publication by me, Chris Anthony, a retired Airman (25 years), a retired civil servant (13 years), a sailor, and a Logistics Consultant (currently).

Why start a publication?

I’ve written a few articles over the last year or so. Most recently I’ve written articles for Politically Speaking, and have been accepted as a writer for The Daily Cuppa. Writing for publications can be cumbersome, so I decided to create a publication of my own for topics that don’t seem to fit elsewhere. From Where I Sit was born.

Warning, publishing on my own means I won’t have skilled editors proofing my work before publication. Feel free to critique.

I am not a member of Medium’s Partner Program, so I am not in this for money. Reading my writing could have consequences, but it will not cost you a thing.

The subjects will follow my whims and will likely be all over the place. Installments won’t often link to each other and will be about whatever inspires me to write on a given day. You’ll likely read about members of my family, friends, mentors, hero’s, and probably an enemy or two.

While I may occasionally write something political, From Where I Sit is not intended to be a political publication. Unfortunately, everything seems to be politicized these days including many traditionally non-political subjects.

Some readers may draw conclusions about my political beliefs, and that’s ok. Please consider that just because you disagree with something I write, it doesn’t mean I’m on the other side of the political isle from you. Likewise, just because you agree with something I write, it doesn’t mean I’m on the same side of the political isle with you.

From Where I Sit?

One of my Air Force commanders from the late 1980s often used the phrase “Where I stand depends on where I sit.” I always assumed he coined that phrase, but I recently learned it actually came from a Truman-era staffer, Rufus Miles, and is often referred to as Miles’ Law. I have referred to this aphorism throughout my career.

We all see and interpret life differently, even in situations where we experience the same event at the same time. According to CDC data there were over 11,000 people born on October 20, 1962, in the United States. I’m one of them. For those of us that are still living, no two of us experienced the last 59+ years the same way. Each individual’s experiences have influenced and informed our opinions today. From Where I Sit installments will be mostly my opinions. I look forward to opinions and feedback from those who stand, sit, or have sat in different places than I.

Sources

Since most of my writing will be based on my opinions, I’m the source. However, I make an effort to inform my opinions with facts and references, when appropriate. Readers may find other sources that support my opinions, and some will find sources that debunk my opinion. Discussion is always welcome.

Why follow From Where I Sit?

Because you want to? Because you’re curious? Because you know me and want to see where this goes or maybe because you know me and you want to see what kind of ridiculous crap I may come up with? Whatever works for you works for me.

In the words of Norman Thayer, Jr., Let’s give her a try, shall we?

From Where I Sit

Writing about where I stand. Where you stand on an issue is influenced by where you sit and/or where you have sat. I’ve had a lot of seats.
